Sometimes… It just needs to be picked out!
If I didn’t have a headache or strained eyes before doing this, I certainly did afterwards! It was a pain, but I think it would have bugged me every time I looked at it, and we can’t have that. This little design was sloppy and not symmetrical, and was repeated in four corners of a block. I do agree with the sentiment that done is better than perfect (especially when it comes to my scrapbook!), but sometimes it’s just gotta go.
Also on the list of things that were butchered today during nap time is the top I am currently working on. I finished it late last night during a sleepless night, and upon trying it on this afternoon it became apparent that my square and broad shoulders were just too much for it despite the loose fit. The armholes needed to be enlarged and the back yoke adjusted, which is proving to be very fiddly. It’s also frustrating because I think I did a really nice job on the original 🙁 No pics, it’s too depressing.
Happily, there are always lots of other projects on the go for distraction from the ones you just don’t want to deal with (physically or emotionally). I was organizing my Raskog cart and sorting through project bags last week and found the extra block I had saved from the Feathers quilt which was intended for a matching pillow. I pieced the 20″ background fabric to the feather, straight line quilted to match the quilt, and used some extra binding strips for piping. I just have to hand quilt around the feather and then assemble the zipper and backing and it’s done. Can I call this a win?
What have you been winning and losing at in your sewing room lately?
