What has happened to all my free time? I thought with William going to daycare two mornings a week I would have more time, but it feels like I have less. How is this possible? Add to this the fact that he’s 3 1/2 now, and his afternoon naps are getting shorter and shorter. He used to nap a solid 3-4 hours every day and this is when I would get most of my chores and all of my sewing done- not anymore! Right now I can hear him playing with a truck in his bed; I’m not sure he even sleeps anymore.
I really like the idea of #WIPtober (finishing up WIPs in October for those unfamiliar), as I have several items in various stages of completion. I feel like it will turn into #WIPfall for me though, as there is no way everything will get done by the 31st. My first and only finish so far has been the feather pillow to match the quilt completed earlier this year. It was all ready to go and hanging from the design wall, daring me to make eye contact with it for a very long time. Only stitching the zipper and front and back together remained, but I really lacked the motivation, despite having the zipper in my stash bin and the down pillow insert collecting dust and hiding up high from the dog. Does anyone else’s dog have a weird thing for down pillows? I love how plump this one is 🙂
It is now in our bedroom, along with the quilt which got moved there a month ago when I was washing our coverlet and has permanently taken it’s place now. It’s too small for the bed, but there is a blanket underneath it and no one has complained yet. I also matches the wall colour perfectly, which was not planned. William seems to like it; he hangs out here and watches a movie on iTunes in the morning while I blow dry my hair and put on some makeup. The tufted velvet headboard is also a past project from about two years ago- I’m super proud of that beast! The next sheets I buy will be ivory to match; we’re still using (and loving!) the super luxurious white sheet sets we received as wedding gifts. Thanks Mom!
Although I am trying to stay true to #WIPtober, I had to start a knitting project while we were camping on Thanksgiving weekend. I cast on Gaston in a heathered denim-y blue yarn for William, and am using this as my evening tv knitting. I have had this pattern in my Ravelry queue for almost a year after I was drawn to the textured body and of course the adorable shawl collar.
Are you finishing up your WIPs this month? How long is your list?
