Focus. Remain calm. Breathe. Relax your shoulders. Don’t bother trying to find and brush off that annoying hair that landed on your arm and is irritating you- it’s not worth it! These are my thoughts as I FMQ, trying not to ruin my quilt top. Anyone else?
I can’t be the only quilter who finds this process stressful and daunting. After all the time, money and favourite fabrics you put into your quilt top, the last thing you want to do is a bad quilt job.
I have had some successes with this one, and some failures. I am quite pleased with the loops around the blocks, despite the little wobbles, and I can’t wait to finish the remainder of the blocks in the same way. I am also pleased with the back view, which is a bonus.
I do, however, need to unpick this snowball block and rethink how I want to quilt all of them. This was the first one I attempted, and on my small machine it’s just too much real estate to quilt in this large design. And yes, there are markings on there that didn’t help me 😛 I’m going to write this one off to inexperience. I would love suggestions on what to do with these big, open areas!
So, do you FMQ? Are you good at it and enjoy the process, never attempted it, or in the same boat as me… trying desperately to improve?
