I love this pattern, especially the adorable shawl collar, but the finished product didn’t turn out well in the shoulder area. The arms are very wide and the shoulders boxy, despite following the pattern closely, so I’m not sure what exactly went wrong. This is especially problematic as William is a skinny kiddo. Being a bottom-up pattern it’s not possible to try the WIP on to get a feel for how it will turn out, something I make a point of doing with a top-down sweater frequently. Any advice or suggestions on how to fix this problem for this sweater or in future? You can check out my Ravelry project page here.
I purchased this Canadian Collection 2-ply worsted yarn from Camilla Valley Farm, and I would definitely use it again. There is a good selection of colours in this line, and I love the natural lanolin and the ‘support local’ feel of buying small. While I was there I purchased some beautiful baby blue Jamieson wool from the largest wall of Shetland Wool I have ever seen, and I am excited to see what it will become.
With the 8″ of snow we have gotten since Friday, it is definitely knitting season! I am hoping to finish the never ending Christmas monster pillow for my niece and nephew and then move on to planning my knitting for our Christmas trip to my parent’s farm. It’s a 6+ hour trip one way, so I will need to wind a few balls to prepare. I hope your Christmas knitting is nearing completion- I know I am feeling the heat!
